1. Agreement
These Terms govern your use of PDFly, a PDF reader and annotator for Android made by Ctoryteller. By installing or using PDFly you agree to them. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.
Our Privacy Policy explains how PDFly handles information, and our Refund Policy covers the editor pass.
2. What PDFly is
PDFly lets you find, read and annotate PDF files stored on your phone. It works offline. It is a tool for annotating PDFs — adding highlights, drawings, shapes, text, stamps and signatures on top of a page — and for extracting, reordering, turning, removing and merging pages. It does not edit or retype the text already inside a PDF.
3. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use PDFly on Android devices you own or control, for your own personal or business purposes, in line with these Terms and the Google Play Terms of Service.
You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, resell or redistribute the app, or try to get round the editor pass or the PIN lock, except where the law expressly allows it.
4. Free and paid features
- Free: reading, searching, bookmarks, the library and file actions, and trying every editing tool. Marks you make stay visible inside PDFly.
- The editor pass: saving a new PDF with your marks in it ("Save as new PDF"), extracting pages, organising pages and merging PDFs, and signatures.
The editor pass:
- is bought through Google Play at the price shown in the app and on Google Play at the time of purchase, including any applicable taxes;
- lasts one year from purchase and does not renew by itself — when it ends you can buy another, and buying before it ends adds a year;
- is tied to the Google account that bought it, and can be restored on a new phone or after reinstalling with "I already bought it";
- is checked on your phone. If Google Play cannot be reached, PDFly relies on its last answer from Google Play for up to 30 days.
We may change the price of future passes, or what the free and paid tiers include, for future purchases. A change will not shorten a pass you have already paid for.
5. Your documents and your responsibilities
- Your files remain yours. PDFly never changes your original PDF. "Save as new PDF", "Extract pages" and "Organise pages" always write a new file.
- You are responsible for the documents you open and the content you add to them, and for having the right to annotate, copy, sign or share them.
- Hiding text: only a solid rectangle removes text from the saved copy; the page it covers is turned into an image. Drawing, scribbling or a see-through rectangle over words hides them on screen only — the text underneath remains in the saved PDF. Check a saved copy before you rely on it to keep anything confidential.
- Signatures are pictures. A signature placed with PDFly is an image of your signature, like signing on paper and scanning it. It is not a certificate-based digital or electronic signature and carries no cryptographic proof. Whether it is acceptable for a particular purpose is for you, and the people you send the document to, to decide.
- Do not use PDFly for anything unlawful, or to forge or alter a document in order to deceive anyone.
6. Your data is on your phone
PDFly stores your marks, signatures, PIN and settings only on your device and opts out of Android backups. We cannot recover them. They are lost if you uninstall the app, reset your phone, or use "Forgot PIN" (which wipes PDFly's data but never your PDFs). Keep copies of anything important — for example by saving a marked-up copy as a new PDF.
7. Availability and changes
PDFly is provided for Android through Google Play. We may update the app to add, change or remove features, fix problems, or keep up with Android and Google Play requirements. If we ever stop offering PDFly while your editor pass still has time left on it, we will tell you how we will honour the rest of it — for example by a pro-rata refund through Google Play.
8. Disclaimer
PDFly is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, will display or save every PDF exactly, or will suit a particular purpose. PDFs vary widely, and some — for example scanned documents, unusual layouts or damaged files — may not search, render or save as expected.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ctoryteller is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, documents, profits or business, arising from your use of PDFly. Our total liability for any claim relating to PDFly is limited to the amount you paid for the editor pass in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
10. Ending these Terms
You can stop using PDFly at any time by uninstalling it. We may end your licence if you break these Terms. Sections 5, 6, 8, 9 and 11 continue to apply after these Terms end.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India and the State of Maharashtra. The courts in Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. Before going to court, please write to us — most problems can be resolved quickly.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will publish the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If you keep using PDFly after a change, the updated Terms apply.
